What exactly is the Rose Festival?

The Rose Festival is a temporary exhibition of hundreds of thousands of beautiful roses processed into mosaics, rosaries and objects in and around downtown Lottum.

When does the Rose Festival take place?

The Rose Festival will begin on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 5:00 pm and lasts until Monday, August 15. 11:00 pm.

What are the opening hours?

The Rose Festival is open on Friday, August 12 from 5:00 to 11:00 pm and from Saturday 13 until Monday, August 15 from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Is the Rose Festival is a flower parade?

No, the Rose Festival is not a parade. You can stroll along a scenic route at your own pace, leading around the attractive Market Square, inside the masterfully decorated church, past the majestic little castle “Borggraaf”, through the rosary and all the way to the beautifully meandering river Maas.

What's to see at the Rose Festival?

Roses, roses and roses again, that's what the Rose Festival is all about! Millions of rosebuds cultivated at Lottum’s own rose fields and tens of thousands of cut roses are processed in enchanting mosaics, show gardens and beautifully decorated objects. There are also hundreds of vases with fragrant garden roses from Lottum, a wide range of greenhouse roses and the Top Rose and ADR rosary.

What is the theme of the next Rose Festival?

The theme of the Rose Festival in 2016 is "Roses from art." The whole festival will be decorated around this theme.

Can I get information on the care of roses during the Rose Festival?

Yes, you surely can. During the Rose Festival a rose doctor will be present, to answer all of your questions. In addition you should remember to attend the rose care demonstrations.

What is the entrance fee to the Rose Festival?

Box office tickets are € 18,50 for a day and € 46,00 for a full festival pass. Children under 12 are free. Ferry, parking, toilets and entertainment are included in these admission prices.

How long is festival walking route?

The route is approximately 3 km in total. There are, however, adequate resting places and seats all across the festival grounds.

Are food and drinks available at the festival?

There are plenty of places to eat and drink. For groups there is a possibility to make reservations for lunch and dinner.

What activities will take place during the festival?

Every day there are lots of activities. From flower arranging demonstrations to street theathre and musical performances. The whole program is available elsewhere on this website.

Where can I park?

Parking for the Rose Festival will be clearly indicated. There are traffic controllers that lead you to the parking. Parking and possible ferry crossing is free. A designated parking area for the disabled is available close to the entrance near the church.

Dogs are allowed on the Rose Festival?

Yes, dogs (on a leash) are allowed, except in the church.

Can I take the bike on the premise?

No, bikes are not permitted on the premise during the Rose Festival. At the entrance sufficient parking for cyclists is available.

Can I take the mobility scooter (for the disabled) on to the festival grounds?

Yes, but for mobility scooters special rules apply (e.g. they aren't allowed inside the church). These regulations can be obtained through

Is Lottum open for transport during the Rose Festival?

The centre of Lottum will be completely closed for traffic because of the Rose Festival. All traffic will be diverted. Apart from volunteers of the Rose Festival during the building week, nobody will be admitted to the festival site. Please keep this in mind when visiting Lottum.

How to reach Lottum by public transportation?
