In the Rozenhof (garden of roses), in the center of Lottum, you will find a unique combination of a beautiful rosary and a knowledge centre.  In the rose garden the finest and most beautiful roses for the Dutch and German climate are grown. The mark "Toproos” is owned by the Culture group Roses and Rose Rootstocks of the Dutch Association of Nurseries.
The predicate "Toproos" is only awarded to the best roses to grow and prosper in the Dutch climate. These roses are submitted by professional rose growers and, after several tests, spread over three years, deserve the predicate "Toproos", on condition that no chemical pesticides have been used.
Each year the existing varieties of Top Roses are re-inspected on the same criteria. The main features of these roses are: good health, flower richness, vigour, shape and colour and clean-ups of the dead flowers. The range includes all types of roses.

Annual inspections are done in five rosaria, being Lottum, Boskoop, Winschoten, Zoetermeer and The Hague, five times per growing season and conducted by the VKC (Permanent Commission for certification). Assessed are: Health 40%, Vigour 10%,  flower shape and colour 20%, rich bloom 20% and Cleaning 10%. Based on these tests roses are added or removed from the list of Top Roses.
